Function and Design: Bedroom
January 15 [Artspace] at Untitled will premier Function and Design, an exhibition featuring the work of 52 local artisans, who have created unique furnishings in six room settings for the home. The exhibit will open with a reception at Untitled on January 15 from 5-8pm and will be on display through March 27, 2010. For more information visit their website.
Several FAO members are participating artisans in the exhibition.
The Oklahoma Winter Quilt Show is coming up next weekend, January January 14 – 16, 2010. Click here to visit their website that contains all the information, classes and lectures that are scheduled. We are excited to announce that Stephanie Grubbs had one of her art pieces, Small World, accepted into the Fiberart International Exhibition in Pittsburgh, PA which is sponsored by the Fiberarts Guild of Pittsburgh Inc. The jurors chose 87 pieces out of 1600 entries! Congratulations, Stephanie, we are so proud of you! Many of you will remember this piece because it was in our own exhibit, Fiberworks 2009 this past summer.

For more than 10,000 years, wool felt has been used for clothing, housing (yurts), carpets and blankets. Today, felt is also used in industry and architecture to control vibration, sound and pollution. Felt has unlimited applications in both 2D and 3D design. Felter Pamela Husky will provide a history of the craft, contemporary felt works and a demonstration of the feltmaking process.
